Dental Bridges

Tooth Replacement Option

Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges, at times called fixed, partial dentures, are dental appliances used to replace your missing teeth with manufactured teeth. The appearance of dental bridges is natural and literally bridges the gap where one or more of your teeth are missing. When The Mount Pleasant Dentist, in Mount Pleasant, TX, recommends dental bridges to replace your missing teeth, you have several options as to the material used. You can choose from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials for your bridgework. Once the dental lab has manufactured your bridge, The Mount Pleasant Dentist bonds the bridge onto your surrounding teeth for support.

What is the Function of Dental Bridges?

If you have one or more teeth missing, you may notice a difference in the way you chew and speak. You may also smile less because you are self-conscious about your missing teeth. With dental bridges, your missing teeth can be replaced and your smile can be restored.

The Manufacturing of Dental Bridges

The manufacturing of dental bridges is a two-part process: construction and insertion. Therefore, when you elect the use of dental bridges to correct missing teeth, you will need two office visits to The Mount Pleasant Dentist. The first visit includes Dr. Taylor evaluating your remaining teeth. He or his hygienists takes x-rays and discusses your dental options for tooth replacement. Implant supported dentures or partial dentures are possible options for tooth replacement; however, Dr. Taylor may recommend a permanent, dental bridge as the most favorable treatment for your overall dental health. Dr. Taylor will design your dental bridge for his dental lab to manufacture. The dental lab constructs the dental bridge consisting of three parts: a false tooth and two crowns. The device will fit into the space in your mouth created by your missing teeth to "bridge" the gap.

At your second appointment, Dr. Taylor secures your well-crafted dental bridge onto your adjacent teeth for support, creating a final look that makes you smile.

Do I need Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges replace one or more missing teeth. If this is your dental concern, then yes, you are a candidate for dental bridges; yet, the success of your dental bridge depends on your attention to proper oral hygiene.

The Dental Care Required for Your Dental Bridges

The Mount Pleasant Dentist stresses the need for the following dental care to reduce or even eliminate any oral health problems you may have when wearing your dental bridge.

  • Brush and floss your teeth daily with fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush.
  • Have your teeth cleaned every six months by our oral health team at The Mount Pleasant Dentist.
  • Limit your sugar and starch intake.
  • Avoid hard and sticky snacks.

From A Patient

I've been a patient of the Jesse Taylor's for several years. As always, on this recent visit, Dr. T. was very thorough, informative about the science and helpful in communicating my options. The support personnel were both congenial and highly adept professionally. When the opportunity arises, I enthusiastically recommend Dr. Taylor and his team.
